APPLICATION
GERMAN SKILLS
Language level for application:
To apply to THM (preparatory college, Bachelor's or Master's degree), you need at least a certificate at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages THM by uni-assist .
Language level required for studying:
Before you can enroll at THM , you must have achieved at least a DSH-2 or an equivalent certificate

THM cooperates with Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) and offers German courses from C1 level to the DSH exam for international prospective and current students. You will receive an invitation from us to the DSH exam preparation course.
PREPARATORY COLLEGE
If your home country certificates do not qualify you for direct university admission to THM , you can acquire the subject-specific requirements for studying (assessment test) by attending the "Studienkolleg" (preparatory year).
International students applying to THM attend the Studienkolleg Mittelhessen. Classes take place in Giessen or Marburg, depending on the subject.
There are various preparatory colleges in Germany; you can also apply to them. Please find out more for yourself.
Study preparation programme Prepare&Start @THMplus
The Prepare&Start@ THM plus optimally prepares you for studying engineering or computer science if you do not meet the language and subject-specific requirements for studying in Germany. You gain direct university access to THM choose from 20 STEM Degree Courses
Admission requirements:
- University access in the country of school leaving certificate (e.g. access to a preparatory college)
- German language skills at least at level B1
Application deadline:
- 1 April to 15 July for the winter semester
- October 1st to January 15th for the summer semester
You do not have to take an entrance exam.

ENROLLMENT | REGISTERING
Enrollment is the final step before you can begin your studies.
After you have been offered a place at university, you will receive a message via the application portal E-Campus informing you which documents you still need to upload for enrollment.
Now you need to:
- register with a statutory health insurance provider and inform them that you wish to enroll Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen
- pay the current semester fee
Only applicants who have been accepted will be asked to upload further documents via the e-campus.
- Copy of your passport
- Application for enrollment (from the portal)
- If you haven't already done so: your DSH-2 German certificate. An overview of the certificates accepted THM here.
WELCOME DAY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The Welcome Day marks the start of your studies. You can participate in the Welcome Day approximately 7 days before the semester begins.
The Welcome Day is aimed at international Bachelor's and Master's students in their first semester. This applies regardless of whether they completed their undergraduate studies abroad or in Germany. There you will receive important information about starting your studies and get to know the International Office as well as other international students.
The Welcome Day is designed to ease the transition into university studies and provide valuable information. Further information can be found at go.thm.de/start_international
This event is not aimed at exchange students. There is an additional Orientation Day for you.
APPLICATION FOR UNIVERSITY TRANSFER STUDENTS / HIGHER SEMESTERS
Students changing their degree program or subject:
You are enrolled at THM and are transferring to an open-admission degree program within THM . A review of your subject-specific requirements may be necessary.
- Admission to higher semesters --> Application via E-Campus
- Admission to the 1st semester --> Application via E-Campus
University transfer students
: You retain your degree program but change universities (example: During your studies Computer Science at the University of Marburg and wish to study Computer Science at THM ). A certificate of good standing is also required.
- Admission to the 1st semester --> application via uni-assist
- Admission to higher semesters --> application via E-Campus
Students transferring from other universities or changing their degree program
– Admission to the 1st semester --> Application via uni-assist
– Admission to higher semesters --> Application via E-Campus
Application for Higher Semesters:
An application for a higher semester is only possible for students who have already completed coursework in an equivalent degree program leading to the same qualification and have not yet graduated.
A completed Bachelor's degree is mandatory for application to a higher semester in the Master's program.
