Mensa - Cafeteria Campus Giessen
The easiest and cheapest way for students to eat is to visit one of the cafeterias of the “Studierendenwerk”, they offer are for the THM and the JLU. The cafeterias provide you with breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can choose from a variety of warm meals (with meat, vegetarian and vegan), pasta dishes or fresh raw vegetables and salad from the salad bar. Get to know all the cafeterias around the campus. Bike sharing

Giessen is a typical student's town, where many travel by bike rather than by bus or car. BikeNext offers free use of rental bikes in Giessen for 45 minutes. You can rent up to 2 bikes on one account at the same time. NextBike

Student Chip Card
The chip card is your student ID, RMV semester ticket, electronic wallet for the dining halls, library card, access key to rooms and buildings of the THM . After official enrollment at the THM , your chip card will be created.

The InfoCenter team will answer all your questions about the university, studying and the THM and will put you in touch with the right contact person if necessary. Office hours are from 8 am and in Friedberg also on Saturdays until 12 noon. go.thm.de/infocenter

Make contacts with students from all over the world. Every 1st Wednesday of the month, our International Stammtisch offers you the opportunity to talk to each other in a relaxed atmosphere and get to know other students.

ASTA

International Semester Program offers you the opportunity to study for one or two semesters (up to 30 ECTS per semester) in English at THM . Choose subject-related courses - your field of study at your home country must matches the courses offered. go.thm.de/thinc

International students who would like to study at the THM (full-time students, not exchange students) have to apply via the online portal of uni-assist.
Please note that all undergraduate courses at THM are taught in German. You can apply with B2 level of German, but for enrollment you need C2 level of German. More information and support

Living expenses
How much money do you need per month to live and study in Germany? How much money do you need to budget?
There are fixed costs such as the semester fee (one-off) or rent (monthly) plus individual expenses that you will need for everyday life. In total, you will need at least €992.00 per month. Proof of funding

Living / Accommodation
Accommodation is provided by an external organization. The Student Union Giessen offers nearby rooms in Giessen and Friedberg. Guaranteed accommodation for exchange students from our partner universities if you apply on time.
