Advantages of the Erasmus+ program:

- financial support, additional funding for students with fewer opportunities (first-generation students, working students, students with disabilities or chronic illnesses, parents with child(ren))

- Free online language courses for preparation
Erasmus+ Worldwide
ERASMUS+ International Credit Mobility (worldwide)
Currently, Erasmus+ Worldwide exchanges are limited exclusively to incoming student mobility. Outgoing student mobility can be arranged through THMWorldwide

- Support during the stay abroad
This includes students in all study cycles including the doctorate who would like to complete a part of their studies abroad. They can be funded for up to 12 months at a time.
Our current Erasmus+ worldwide (International Credit Mobility) projects with partner countries and universities.
Who can apply?
You can apply when
- You are regularly enrolled at the THM
- Your Department at THM has concluded an Erasmus cooperation agreement with the host university - see partner universities.
- Your Departmental International Coordinator certifies sufficient academic progress (e.g., approximately 90 ECTS credits for departure from the 4th/5th semester onwards)
- They meet the language requirements of the partner university
- confirmation from the Departmenthave received a signed regarding their application for a semester abroad
- You are able to clearly describe your intention to study abroad in your letter of motivation
- You do not receive funding from PROMOS/HAW.International or other DAAD programmes
International undergraduate students must take the following into account when planning: The stay abroad must not exceed 6 months and you must before leaving Germany that your residence permit is valid at least until your return!
What is being funded?
You can receive the following funding for a stay abroad with Erasmus+
Erasmus+ Europe-wide
- Country-dependent, monthly residence allowances (total funding for each country group)
- Travel expense allowance depending on distance and type of travel (distance calculator)
- Erasmus+ funding can be combined with BAföG (German Federal Training Assistance Act) for studies abroad and the Deutschlandstipendium (German National Scholarship).
- Up to 6 additional subsidized travel days for sustainable travel (Green Travel), amount depends on the country, as well as access to the Erasmus Interrail ticket.
- Special funding for first-generation students, those in employment, those with disabilities, those staying with children, etc. (social top-ups) or applications for actual costs for participants with a degree of disability (GdB 20 or higher), disability with additional financial needs, chronic illness with additional financial needs, or with child(ren).
There is no legal entitlement to funding, a specific amount of funding, or a specific funding period.

How long can I stay abroad with Erasmus+?
A study stay with Erasmus+ can between 2 and 12 months per study cycle (Bachelor's, Master's, PhD).
Example: You spend one semester (5 months) at a host university during your Bachelor's degree, extend it by another semester (5 semesters total), and complete an internship abroad with Erasmus (2 months). During your Master's degree or doctoral studies, you are again entitled to up to 12 months of funding.
Extension of stay
An extension of the study stay abroad must be requested informally by email no later than 4 weeks before the end of the current semester (

- The International Office of THM nominates you to host university (GHS)
- Nominations will be accepted by GHS; you will receive information on how to apply there
Before your stay
- Application to GHS | If accepted: Letter of Acceptance (LoA)
- Online Learning Agreement (OLA) with Departmental International Coordinator n finalize (confirmed three times)

- Have the Certificate of Stay - Arrival (CoA) from GHS signed during the first week of university
- If necessary, initiate any changes to the Learning Agreement within the first 4 weeks after arrival (Status: confirmed)
- If applicable, application for an internship abroad in the host country
- If necessary, apply for an extension of your stay
After stay
- Have the Certificate of Stay - Departure (CoD) signed by GHS
- Complete the EU survey
- Transcript of Records GHS
- Recognition at THM
- Fill out feedback in SoleMove
- The second installment of the Erasmus grant will be paid out
What are the selection criteria?
Due to limited exchange places, we apply the following criteria when allocating places:
- Your motivation for choosing a host country/university is clearly presented in your letter of motivation
- They have studied at least 1, preferably 3 semesters at THM
- Your Departmental International Coordinator will certify sufficient academic progress (e.g., approximately 90 ECTS credits for departure from the 4th/5th semester onwards)
- They possess the language skills required for the semester abroad
- You will not receive any further DAAD funding, e.g. through PROMOS/HAW.International
- The minimum stay is 2 months
- Your ERASMUS+ funding quota has not yet been exhausted, meaning you have not yet exceeded the maximum funding period of 12 months in your current study phase (BA/MA)
