All students of THM

The following should be noted:

  • The target university is a partner university of THM (otherwise, apply as a freemover)
  • They have studied at least 1, preferably 3 semesters at THM
  • approval of the Departmentapplication for study abroad
  • They possess the language skills required by the partner university
  • Your motivation for choosing the target country/university is clearly presented in your letter of motivation.
  • They have demonstrably participated in an intercultural training/module and/or the International Buddy Programme

During the further course of your application, clarify whether, which, and how your credits earned abroad can and should be recognized. The contact persons for this are the Departmental International Coordinator in your Department .

International undergraduate students must take the following into account when planning: The stay abroad must not exceed 6 months and you must before leaving Germany that your residence permit is valid at least until your return!

THM.weltweit offers you a free or reduced-fee exchange place at a partner university outside Europe. For further funding, you can apply for scholarships such as PROMOS or HAW.International , as well as for BAföG (German Federal Training Assistance Act) for studies abroad . Information is available under Programs/Financing .

1. APPLICATION TO THE INTERNATIONAL OFFICE OF THM

You apply within the application deadlines via the online portal SoleMove.

To the application portal

The following application deadlines apply:
Deadline for a stay in the winter and summer semesters: January 20th.
Deadline for a stay in the summer semester: June 15th.

Documents required for the application:

  • signed confirmation from the Departmentregarding the application for a semester abroad
  • Letter of motivation for a semester abroad
  • current enrollment certificate THM
  • Current performance overview THM (in English)
  • Proof of language proficiency in the language of instruction (only necessary if required by the host university; please check this independently on the respective host university's Webseite ) 
  • Learning Agreement (if applicable): Enter the desired modules agreed upon with Departmental International Coordinator and a) sign it yourself b) have it signed by the Departmental International Coordinator

2. AFTER APPLYING TO THE INTERNATIONAL OFFICE OF THM

  1. Nomination by THM/International Office at the partner university
  2. Apply directly to the partner university
  3. Upload the Letter of Acceptance and the fully signed Learning Agreement to SoleMove

3. PREPARATION AND STAY

  • If necessary, apply for scholarships, e.g., PROMOS/HAW.International scholarship, as well as BAföG for studies abroad
  • Visa application (if necessary)
  • Clarify insurance coverage (health, liability, accident insurance)
  • Departure
  • Return & Grade Recognition in the Department 
  • Reporting in the International Office
