What is a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)?

BIPs are a short study abroad period (5-30 days) combined with a mandatory virtual phase (cooperative online learning exchange) of undefined duration; the on-site activity takes place, for example, at a foreign partner university.

What are the benefits of a BIP?

  • Improving professional knowledge on an international level

  • Establishment of an international network
  • Improvement of (technical) language skills
  • Very good support from teachers, even during the presence phase abroad

What is funded?

  • day-specific residence allowances (funding amounts)
  • Erasmus+ funding can be combined with a Deutschlandstipendium
  • travel allowance
  • additional travel days for sustainable travel (Green Travel Top up)
  • Top-up amounts for students with fewer opportunities (Social Top up)
  • Real cost support disability, Visit with child, Etc.

How do I apply?

  1. See BIP announcement regarding required documents and contact persons
  2. If the presence phase takes place at the THM :
    No application for an Erasmus+ grant necessary. You attend courses with foreign THM partner institutions in Giessen/Friedberg/Wetzlar.
  3. If the attendance phase takes place abroad:
    Application for place + Erasmus+ scholarship. You will receive information from the International Office by email after you have accepted the BIP ( Download application tutorial)

What are the conditions of participation?

  • You are regularly enrolled at the THM
  • active participation in the physical stay
  • active participation in the mandatory virtual component
