The DAAD supports HAWen/FHen students during their stays abroad and the universities in cooperation projects with international partners. For more information see www.daad.de/HAW.
Who can apply?
THM students from Bachelor and Master degree courses and doctoral candidates can apply directly to the DAAD. If you are already receiving a DAAD scholarship for your stay in Germany, you cannot apply.
What is funded?
be promoted
- Study visits with a duration of 3 to 6 months and
- Stays abroad as part of a thesis for a duration of 1 to 6 months as well
- Internships abroad
- if applicable, application for Special funding for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses and Stays with children: can be submitted later
The scholarship includes the following benefits:
- a monthly scholarship installment determined according to the host country,
- Travel allowance, the amount of which varies depending on the host country,
- Benefits for health, accident and private liability insurance,
- for study visits: subsidy for any tuition fees incurred up to a maximum (depending on the destination country),
- for theses: allowance for trips to the host country that are directly related to the project.
- In addition, family benefits for accompanying spouses or life partners and children can be granted under certain conditions upon application.

application process
The application is made online, directly to the DAAD. Be sure to note the extensive information provided online by the DAAD and follow it closely.
The application documents to be submitted include:
- Proof of language proficiency, e.g. to be filed with THM Language Center
- letter of recommendation,
- transcript of records,
- detailed description of the study project.
