LEARN GERMAN BEFORE STUDYING
The THM cooperates with the Justus Liebig University Gießen (JLU) and offers for international prospective students and applicants German courses from C1 to the DSH exam.
language level for study
Before you can enroll at the THM , you must have achieved at least a DSH-2 or an equivalent certificate.
If you are interested in a course at level A1, A2, B1 or B2, please apply directly to Justus Liebig University Gießen (JLU) via the uni-assist portal.
The JLU Gießen offers German language courses at all levels. Find out about fees and registration deadlines in good time.
The JLU also offers fee-based International German intensive courses in summer and spring:
- Of the International University Summer Course - HSK takes place from the end of August to the end of September. In four weeks (approx. 95 teaching hours) you will receive a certificate of participation with 4 ECTS points.
- Of the International Spring Course – IFK lasts three weeks (approx. 60 lessons) and usually takes place in March/April. You will receive a certificate of participation with 3 ECTS points.
LEARNING GERMAN AT STUDIES
The THM Language Center offers all international students and participants in the pre-study programme a range of opportunities to improve their German language skills.
You can expand your knowledge both by learning on your own and with the support of a tutorial. You can also develop your written skills during your studies and get direct help with specific problems.

If you are already studying at the THM , the THM Language Center offers you a block course as an elective subject "German as a technical language", for which you can receive ECTS.
