Research is highly valued at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM). This is reflected in the research structures that have existed for many years, national and international collaborations, the large number of research-oriented professors, and the strong pool of young researchers.
The research fields at THM encompass current and future-oriented questions and challenges from society, the economy, technology, and the environment. Researchers continually address new technical and societal, regional and global challenges and translate them into innovative, sustainable concepts. In doing so, they can draw on long-established research structures and extensive regional, national, and international collaborations.

To further sharpen its research profile, THM eight interdisciplinary Centres of Competence These forward-looking centers have been established. They promote collaboration across various disciplines and make a significant contribution to developing innovative solutions for complex challenges. To this end, they cooperate with researchers both domestically and internationally, as well as with domestic, national, and international businesses, and their research projects extensively incorporate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the Research Campus of Central Hessen (FCMH), THM is strategically linked with the Justus Liebig University Giessen and the Philipps University Marburg to make Central Hesse one of the leading research and innovation regions in Germany.
In this way, the three universities in central Hesse pool the diverse expertise of their application- and basic-oriented researchers, enable interdisciplinarity across the entire spectrum of subjects, and offer infrastructures and potential for building powerful research networks with a large number of research large and special equipment, as is otherwise only possible in metropolitan regions.
The Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen maintains diverse collaborations with international partners, both within and outside the European Union. If you are interested in an international collaboration, please contact the Research and Young Academics Department.
