The THM offers young scientists excellent research opportunities for their doctorates in a practical and application-oriented environment.
The doctorate can be carried out as a cooperative doctorate via a university at home or abroad or via the Graduate Centre for Engineering Sciences at the Research Campus of Central Hessen the Justus Liebig University Gießen, the Philipps University of Marburg and the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (PZI). . In the field of Life Science Engineering THM has had the right to carry out independent doctoral procedures for Dr.-Ing. These doctorates are carried out under the leadership of the THM within the framework of the PZI.

The doctoral candidates are supported by third-party funded projects, Centres of Competence (https://www.thm.de/ Centres of Competence /) and working groups are involved in research (and teaching) at the THM .
THM doctoral students have access to a wide range of qualification options, such as good scientific practice, scientific writing or project management.
The THM Strategic Research Fund supports doctoral students with start-up and completion financing as well as travel and publication cost grants.
