Studies
Study content
In the first two semesters, you will learn all the necessary fundamentals for your studies, such as programming, mathematics, and theoretical computer science. You will also become familiar with data science methods, as well as project-oriented applications and areas of application.
In the following semesters, you will delve particularly into machine learning and deep learning as key methods of modern AI. Alongside numerous courses in data science, you will take interdisciplinary modules from an elective catalog, such as those on time management, diversity, or conflict management, and learn the fundamentals of academic writing. To prepare you for the fact that English is often the working language, selected modules will be taught in English.
Furthermore, you choose modules from a focus area (Biology, Engineering, Humanities, Computer Science, Economics). You have the option of choosing a focus area that will later be shown on your certificate, or studying without a specific focus area and exploring several focus areas as you wish.
During the final phase of your studies, you can complete your practical phase in a company and thus gain insights into real working life even before your actual graduation.

Key areas
Modules totaling 24 ECTS credits must be selected from the specialization pools. You can either choose all modules from a single specialization, which will then be listed separately on your certificate, or combine modules from different specializations.
biology
Biomedical research laboratories generate vast amounts of data daily. However, this data alone does not lead to new insights unless it is systematically analyzed, understood, and interpreted. This specialization focuses on the analysis of biological data to support researchers in biology in generating new knowledge.
| FOCUS POOL BIOLOGY | SWS | CrP |
|---|---|---|
| Genetic algorithms | 4 | 6 |
| Deep learning on biological sequences | 4 | 6 |
