The goals and tasks of biomedical engineering are the research and development of methods and systems for the early detection, diagnosis, therapy, and rehabilitation of diseases. Biomedical Engineering is a multidisciplinary engineering science whose contributions make it an excellent partner for medical research and industry.

Study content
Students deepen their knowledge of methods and approaches in biomedical engineering. They learn about research and development processes and have the opportunity to apply this knowledge to current issues and tasks.
The main focus areas of the research-oriented Master's programme are:
- Biomedical systems and processes
- Signal and image processing
- functional materials and
- Neuroprosthetics/AI
The programme is characterized by a high proportion of independent academic work under the guidance of professors at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen . In particular, presentations and, where applicable, posters at national and international conferences and symposia are encouraged.

Perspectives
The aim of the Master's programme is to train experts with a solid engineering foundation, sustainable methodological skills, and a sound understanding of biomedical issues and tasks. The programme qualifies graduates for application-oriented positions in biomedical research, development, and industry.
The degree programme maintains national and international contacts with universities, research institutions, companies, and professional societies. It offers its students the opportunity to contribute to current topics in biomedical engineering.
Study options
German and English study options
The Biomedical Engineering programme can be studied in either German or English. Depending on the chosen option, all courses are offered in either English or German.
The Elective courses offered vary each semester and may differ between the various degree programme options; they are generally offered alternately in English or German. Elective courses in the other language can be taken provided you have the necessary language skills.
Furthermore, your English skills, scientific writing, and intercultural competence will be further developed during your studies to specifically prepare you for communication in international teams.
Switching between the English and German versions is possible at any time during the course of study, provided the corresponding language requirements (see section on application) are met.

| Requirements | Admission to the Master's program requires a completed Bachelor's or Diploma degree with a final grade of at least "satisfactory" (2.7 or better) in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science. Furthermore, English language proficiency at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages must be demonstrated. Further details are regulated by the examination regulations. Bachelor's graduates from Degree Courses of less than seven semesters can compensate for any missing knowledge by the end of the second semester, so that upon completion of the Master's program Biomedical Engineering , they will have completed a total of 300 credit points. |
| Language requirements | German-language option: English language skills at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages must be demonstrated to understand English-language academic literature. For international applicants who obtained their first university degree in a non-German-language program: proof of good German language skills (e.g., DSH-2, TestDaF with at least 4 points in each section) is required. English-language option: Basic German language skills at level A1 (or equivalent German-language first university degree) must be demonstrated. English language skills at level B2 are required for the program itself to actively participate in lectures and academic discussions. |
