Have you already successfully completed your bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and are eager to delve even deeper into the exciting area of computer science? Then the master's program in computer science is perfect for you. While you'll spend the first two semesters studying computer science theoretically, the second half of the program is dedicated to practical experience. You can and should spend half to a full semester working in a company to gain firsthand experience of the work of computer scientists. Following this, you'll have one semester to write your master's thesis.
Studies
Study content
We place great importance on you taking ownership of your studies. Each semester, you can choose from several courses based on your interests and thus shape YOUR own studies!
By structuring the courses into Elective pools, we simultaneously offer you the security of a solid education:
Elective pool:
Software Engineering: In addition to deepening your skills in areas such as software architecture and testing, you will also learn about their applications in the field of web engineering and mobile systems.
Practical Computer Science: This pool addresses complex practical issues such as cloud computing, distributed systems, data analysis, pattern recognition, machine learning, and much more.
Theoretical computer science: In addition to practical application, we also place emphasis on theoretical foundations in the Master's program, such as complexity, computability, logic, and cryptology.
Interdisciplinary skills: As a future team leader and supervisor, you will need to possess not only technical but also interdisciplinary qualifications. Here you will acquire skills in areas such as leadership, labor law, conflict management, and negotiation and mediation techniques.
Economics: For professional practice, knowledge of economics is essential for computer scientists as well. Here you will learn best practices from consulting, marketing, human resources management, and advanced project management.
Free ElectivePool: Our lecturers offer a large number of courses and practicals each semester on current topics such as microservices, deep learning, robotics, and much more.
Furthermore, you have the opportunity to design your own events and seminars during the project week. What have you always wanted to learn, know, or see? What topics do you think should be covered? You can put this into practice in self-organized and self-designed seminars. This way, you decide what you learn, not the curriculum.
Mentoring concept
Throughout your Master's studies, you will be supported by our mentoring program. At the beginning of your studies, you will select a mentor from the faculty in your Department who will guide you through the four semesters. They will support you in planning your studies individually, taking your prior knowledge into account.

Career prospects
Perspectives
While a bachelor's degree in computer science already offers excellent career prospects, these are even better with a successful master's degree. As a computer scientist with a master's degree, you are able to not only develop software but also take on a leadership position in a company or department and manage projects.
