Study content
The previous Master's program in Corporate Management has been integrated into the specialization "Controlling & Management." This specialization remains unchanged. However, a new specialization, "Tax & Accounting," has been introduced, featuring modules such as "Tax Planning," "Case Studies in Tax Law," and "Selected Topics in Audits and Reporting.".
The first semester is structured the same for both study specializations. From the second semester onwards, students focus on their chosen specialization, but also have three modules in common.
In the third semester, a specific focus module takes place before the master's thesis. Otherwise, you can customize the final semester by choosing your master's thesis topic.

Report from our student representatives

The summer semester of 2024 in the Master's program in Business Management (MAUS) at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) was an exciting, intensive, and extremely educational time for us students. From the very beginning, we were impressed by the outstanding organization. Enrollment was seamless, the lecture schedule was clearly structured, and every course fit perfectly into our daily study routine. Thanks to the support of the program director and coordinator, we felt well looked after.
A key aspect that accompanied us throughout the semester was the continuous and readily available support from the professors. They were not only available to answer our academic questions but also consistently offered assistance in difficult situations or when we felt uncertain. We always felt that our concerns were heard, and this commitment was invaluable to us students. The close collaboration and personal exchange make studying at THM a truly positive experience.
A definite highlight was the excursion to the West German Audit Office in Giessen . It provided an intensive, hands-on insight into the daily work of auditors and tax advisors. We were able to speak directly with experts, exchange ideas about current challenges, and learn firsthand how the theory from our lectures is applied in practice. This personal contact and the opportunity to ask professionals questions made the day a truly exciting experience. Not only was the professional perspective profound, but the informal exchange in a relaxed atmosphere also helped us to bond even more closely as a group.
The lectures and seminars in the summer semester were also characterized by an excellent blend of theory and practice. The strong practical focus, which permeated almost every session, was particularly motivating. Instead of dry theory, lively discussions, case studies, and practical application examples took center stage. Whether in business simulations, group work, or intensive discussions, we were consistently able to apply the learned content in concrete professional contexts. This practice-oriented education not only provided us with new knowledge but also helped us to better understand the challenges of corporate management and optimally prepare ourselves for our future careers.
A particularly noteworthy aspect is the flexibility that THM offers us in tailoring our studies to our individual needs. Whether through elective modules (in the second semester) or the option of completing a semester abroad – the possibilities for adapting our studies to our personal interests and career goals are diverse. Some of us have already made plans for a semester abroad, while others took advantage of the wide range of elective modules to deepen their knowledge in specific areas during the second semester. This freedom to set our own priorities is a major advantage of the MAUS program and has been greatly appreciated by all of us.
Not to be forgotten is the strong sense of community among the students. Interaction within the group was excellent, and through group work, joint projects, and lively discussions, we motivated and supported one another. This close exchange not only facilitated learning but also led to many friendships that extend beyond our studies. It was particularly gratifying to see how THM fosters this sense of community and is always there for us with advice and practical help whenever we faced challenges.
In summary, the summer semester of 2024 was a time full of positive experiences, professional development, and personal challenges for us. The excellent organization, the practice-oriented lectures, and the excursions enriched our studies and gave us valuable insights into the world of corporate management. After this intensive and successful semester, we students are already looking forward to the second semester and are excited to see what new experiences and challenges await us!
