Report from our student representatives
"Exciting start to the Master's program in Human Resource Management"
Last summer semester, we started the new cycle of the Master's program in Human Resource Management with 19 students.
The first semester of the Master's program in Human Resource Management at our university was filled with a variety of exciting activities and valuable experiences. Right from the start, we kicked things off with an interactive business simulation game, which we conducted together with our sister program, the Master's program in Corporate Management. This event not only provided us with valuable insights into the subject matter but also offered the perfect opportunity to get to know our fellow students better. The highlight of our orientation week was a joint bar crawl, during which we explored the area and earned the coveted "Master of Ludistreet" badge.
A definite highlight of the semester was our field trip to the Deutsche Börse in Eschborn as part of the "Digital Transformation in Human Resources Management" module. There, we gained exclusive insights into the HR work of one of Germany's most important financial institutions. An exciting scavenger hunt through the building and a shared lunch rounded off the visit. Afterwards, we continued on to the Old Stock Exchange in Frankfurt, where we received an informative presentation on ETFs and were given a behind-the-scenes look at the legendary trading floor.
As in previous years, we visited the “Lab for Innovative Teaching” at JLU. There, we immersed ourselves in the fascinating world of virtual reality (VR). We were able to try out VR headsets firsthand and thus experience various virtual environments. A particular highlight was the opportunity to practice an impromptu speech using VR technology – an innovative method for improving one's presentation skills.
These practical experiences not only enriched our first semester academically, but also gave us exciting insights into the diverse aspects of human resource management. We eagerly anticipate the next semester and our upcoming Electivemodules, where we can further deepen our knowledge individually.
We look forward to the coming months and the further insights, challenges, and highlights that await us.
Testimonials from our students
How does the Master's program in Human Resource Management at THM support you with regard to your career goals?

Amelie Zeif
After completing my Master's degree, I started working at EDEKA headquarters in Hamburg as an HR Concepts Specialist. There, I handle strategic and conceptual tasks, including project responsibility for HR key performance indicators within the framework of the sustainability report according to CSRD.
I started as a trainee in HR, where I had the opportunity to learn about all areas of human resources over an intensive year and a half. The Master's program was invaluable in helping me quickly familiarize myself with the diverse topics. The broad scope of the degree program, in particular, as well as the courses I took in the "Corporate Management" Master's program, are invaluable to me today in process work and strategic concept development.

Last week I was at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen in Giessen for work - the same place where I completed my Master's degree two years ago.
After my appointments, I ran into my former professor, Martina Höber, and unexpectedly found myself in her Social Skills lecture for the first-semester Human Resource Management program at THM Business School. What was planned as a quick visit turned into a spontaneous Q&A session: questions about the program, specializations, career paths—and, of course, what can I actually do with my degree? It was the perfect segue to my current path: almost a year now in a leadership role in HR. We talked about time management—not just in terms of efficiency, but also about the importance of knowing your own value, consciously choosing appointments, and asking yourself: Where is my time being well spent? And, consequently, do I have to be involved in everything? We discussed dealing with employee concerns during crises, resistance, and how to assert yourself as a young manager. Honest. Authentic. Unplanned. Thank you for the wonderful exchange and the kind words at the end of the lecture, dear Master's in Human Resource Management class of 2025! I wish you all the best on your journeys.
How does the Master's program in Human Resource Management at THM support you in your current professional activities?

After completing my Master's degree, I joined a small, international company as an HR Business Partner, where I am currently involved in shaping structures and processes, among other things. During my studies, the modules on communication and leadership skills were particularly valuable, as we reflected on our behavior through role-playing and case studies. I now apply the insights gained there in my daily work when speaking with applicants, employees, and managers. I benefit from highly relevant modules such as Digital Transformation in HR and People Analytics and AI, as they reflect the latest developments. Furthermore, modules like Strategic Management, Project and Business Process Management, and Performance Management help me to think strategically and to look beyond the HR field. In addition, various practical projects allowed us to gain valuable insights into current challenges in human resources. I also gained experience in an international environment through a semester abroad in Vancouver; THM offers excellent opportunities for this. Besides the academic content, what I remember most is the personal atmosphere in the Master's program, characterized by direct contact with the lecturers and the strong sense of community among us students.
