Engineering informatics is hands-on computer science. Mobile telephones, navigation systems, vehicles of all kinds and robots - these are just some examples of the many technical systems incorporating computers that reliably perform their clearly defined tasks in the shadows. Developing software for these systems is an exciting and challenging job for computer informatics specialists.
Engineering informatics offers interesting insights into those parts of technology that are not readily visible, but work in the background. Small computers, called imbedded systems, ensure the reliable operation of vehicles, mobile phones, and everyday appliances that support us in our daily lives. Prospective careers range from smart homes to robotics to medical and aerospace technology.
If you enjoy working on technical problems and like to "tinker", and if you are interested in computer science, then Engineering Informatics is the right degree course for you.
