The two-year postgraduate course in Engineering Informatics is not only a continuation of the undergraduate course in the same subject, but is also designed to be compatible with undergraduate courses having similar contents.
Students learn to work independently with embedded systems, sensors and actuators. These often include heterogeneous, networked systems from Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things and many others, promoting both a broad scope of specialized knowledge and strategic planning abilities. While mechanical and electrical engineers were previously responsible for product development, there is an increasing demand for engineering informatics experts who can implement software solutions for the growing number of functionalities in technical products.
At THM's Institute for Technology and Computer Science there are numerous development and research activities pertaining to interesting and current topics in engineering informatics, and many of these closely correspond with topics in the postgraduate course.
