The safe, sustainable and economic supply of energy is one of the most essential tasks facing future engineers. Many industries are currently dealing with questions regarding the efficient use of energy both in monetary terms and in the use of resources, which involves finding the optimum operation of energy systems through a sensible combination of regenerative and non-regenerative energy sources. The undergraduate course in Energy Economics and Energy Management deals with the proper management of energy supply facilities, which means finding an energy efficient and economic operation that also takes into account the legal boundary conditions determined by energy policy. This interdisciplinary course thus offers students a forward looking qualification which allows them to assume development, planning and leadership responsibilities 1) at the many different companies involved in energy economics (utilities, energy providers, energy consulting firms); 2)  at public utilities or 3) in government agencies and associations.
