The increasing digitalization of all processes relevant for company operations places high demands on IT departments. New technologies must be evaluated quickly and implemented at the company when required. New trends may quickly become critical success factors. Buzzwords like 'industry 4.0' and the advancing networking of services show just how fast this development is taking place. Information systems are becoming increasingly complex and mean higher and higher requirements for developers and users. For that reason IT experts must be able to adapt quickly to new approaches and new technologies in software systems.
This undergraduate course qualifies students for careers in software technology through hands-on training. Students learn the fundamental technologies and skills relevant for software development and can apply these in software projects. They become acquainted with the importance of digitalization and can evaluate the influence it has on company processes. In the resulting software development projects they can contribute to all phases of development. In the course students also develop the skills necessary for the successful analysis, design and implementation of software systems for heterogeneous application landscapes.
About the Course
Software technologists specializing in data science tap the resource of data for companies. They identify data sources and use them to satisfy information needs. They develop applications for analyzing data and can use advanced statistical methods and artificial intelligence algorithms in a targeted manner.
