All applicants are placed on a "ranking list by waiting time" . Among applicants with the same waiting time, the following criteria determine the ranking, in order of priority:
- Level of qualification
- Service rendered
- Go
The waiting period is calculated based on the number of half-years that have passed between obtaining the university entrance qualification and the start of the application semester. The calculation is only performed in full half-years. A half-year lasts from
- April 1 - September 30
- October 1 - March 31
The semester in which the university entrance qualification was obtained is not taken into account in the calculation. The waiting time is also calculated regardless of how often you have already applied to the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen . A maximum of 7 waiting semesters will be considered.
Impact of Prior Study Periods on Waiting Time:
The number of semesters you were enrolled at a university is subtracted from the total waiting time. This means that study periods already completed do not count towards waiting time.
Anyone who can prove that they were prevented from acquiring university entrance qualifications at an earlier time for reasons beyond their control will, upon application and submission of the reasons for the impediment, be considered with an earlier date of acquisition of the university entrance qualification.
Increasing the waiting time:
The number of half-years that have actually passed can be increased under certain circumstances, thus improving the chances of admission within the quota based on waiting time.
The number of half-years will be increased by
- one half-year period, for each six-month vocational training period, but at most two half-year periods if a vocational qualification outside of higher education was obtained prior to the acquisition of the university entrance qualification, which was not a prerequisite for the acquisition of the university entrance qualification (HZB).
- A maximum of four semesters is permitted if vocational training was completed before obtaining the higher education entrance qualification (HZB). In this case, the HZB must have been obtained before July 16, 2004.
- a half-year period if, after obtaining university entrance qualification, a vocational qualification was obtained outside of higher education or professional activity of at least three years was undertaken and the start of the training or professional activity was before January 16, 1998.
This also applies if applicants were prevented from obtaining a vocational qualification outside of higher education before acquiring university entrance qualification due to performing compulsory service.
A vocational qualification is held by
- Training occupations that are included in the list of recognized training occupations of the Vocational Training Promotion Act;
- proof of vocational training at a state-recognized technical or vocational school;
- a completed apprenticeship in the lower, middle or upper ranks of the public administration;
- a vocational training equivalent to that under Article 37 paragraph 1 or 3 of the Unification Treaty.
Periods of vocational training do not increase the waiting time if they constitute the practical part of the entitlement to university admission.
