When and under what circumstances can you contact the central students advisory service ?

The central students advisory service is your first point of contact for all questions concerning studying at THM. Whether you are already studying at THM or are currently looking for the right degree program, our professionally trained advisory team will be happy to help you. It doesn't matter if you already have a specific request or aren't yet sure what you need. We'd be happy to discuss it with you.

We advise prospective students on:

• How do I find a suitable course of study?
• I can't decide and need support.
• What can I study at THM ?
• What are the requirements? (Numerus, internships...)
• ...

We advise students on:

• How do I organize my studies?
• I want to reorient myself.
• I have motivation problems.
• I want to quit, but I don't know what to do afterwards.
• The course of study is a good fit, yet I still feel uncomfortable.
• I can't decide and need support.
• What can I do if I have failed an exam?
• ...

What happens during a consultation at the central students advisory service ?

The students advisory service is about empowering you to help yourself: we don't offer standard solutions, but take the time to address your individual needs (appointments usually last 45 to 60 minutes). Every person and every conversation is different.

At the beginning, we will clarify your concerns together: What prompted you to contact the students advisory service ? What questions or expectations do you have? Whether you already have specific concerns or are still unsure – you define the topics, and we will discuss the next steps and the sequence together.

Depending on your needs, we can support you with information about studying in general, specific Degree Courses , or the application, enrollment, and changing your degree program. We'll show you relevant information sources, explain procedures, and connect you with contact persons for further questions. We'll also give you practical tips and share our experiences.

If you come to us with more difficult issues, such as doubts about your studies, problems with learning or everyday student life, we will work together to consider how you can proceed and help you develop new perspectives. Perhaps you already have your own ideas for solutions, which we can explore further together or support you in implementing.

At the end of the conversation, we summarize the most important points and clarify the next steps: whether your issue has already been resolved, whether you would like further support, or whether a follow-up appointment would be advisable. You can also use the students advisory service multiple times if needed.
