The chip card is available to all students of THM .
After receiving your chip card, and again at the beginning of each new semester, you must update the card at a ticket machine. Simply insert the chip card into the machine, and it will be updated with the new expiration date. Please note that the card can only be updated once the current semester fee for the upcoming semester has been paid. Please allow 14 days for processing after payment is received before the update is printed on the chip card.
For our visually impaired students, the terminals in Giessen are equipped with speech output (BLiZ).

The chip card can be equipped with appropriate access permissions, so that certain barriers or rooms can be opened with the card.
Technology and care
The chip card contains a microchip and an antenna running along the edge of the card to enable data exchange via compatible terminals. Both are very sensitive, meaning the card should not be bent or have anything stuck to it.
The semester ticket is printed on the ticket using a TRW printer at the update terminals. Dirt can severely impair the print quality. Similarly, the TRW print can fade due to excessive heat, so please protect your ticket from dirt and heat.
Please use the protective sleeve provided with the card.
The imprint on the update terminals can be renewed at any time.
Defect / Loss / Theft
If your chip card is defective, has been stolen or lost, please apply for a new chip card via the THM e-campus.
You must appear in person with your identity card or passport to collect the new chip card.
A fee of 15 euros is usually charged for each additional student ID card.
If your chip card is defective, you can obtain a "refund slip for the remaining balance" from the chip card service. Present this slip and the defective chip card to the Giessen Student Union (cashier) to receive the remaining balance. Unfortunately, cafeteria money cannot be refunded in case of loss or theft. Further information is available from the Giessen Student Union team.
