In the “GettING Started” course variant, the Number of modules reduced in the first semesters. This creates space for mandatory additional offers in order to bring different levels of knowledge to a uniform level and strengthen interdisciplinary skills.
The programme offers students professional support and guidance in their individual course of study Extension of the standard period of study by two semesters.
The extended standard period of study aims to sustainably increase student success while maintaining the current high level of training.

Competency Analysis
Right at the beginning of the course, all first-year students of the respective course are asked to take part in a subject-specific competence analysis.
The competence analysis - mostly digitally supported - is divided into two sub-areas:
- Competence tests in basic subjects of the respective Degree Courses
- Tests for self-assessment regarding study motivation and self-efficacy
Following the competence analysis, personal reflection and counseling sessions are held with the participants based on the results achieved. If necessary, a recommendation to change to the degree programme variant will follow.
Professional support
Participants in the degree programme have the opportunity to take part in additional offers (mostly mandatory) to align the level of knowledge/competence within an intensively supervised learning group. Examples of the additional offers include:
- Support courses in the basic subjects
- Additional internships and laboratory activities to support the understanding of theory
- Revision courses, exam preparation courses, open consultation hours and study periods
- Project work in the introductory phase to promote early identification with the subject
In addition to the face-to-face events, e-learning offers/online courses on the basic subjects are provided. These digital and hybrid offers to deepen the study content are continuously being further developed and expanded.
+ 2 semesters BAföG
Participation in the course variant extends the introductory phase of the course by two semesters.
If you are eligible for BAföG funding, this also applies to the additional two semesters.
organizational support
In addition to the purely technical offers, the course variant offers a wide range of organizational support:
- Intensive support in the introductory phase by the project team for individual planning of the course of studies and for the promotion of reflection processes
- Organizational support by mentors for socialization at the university
- "Group mentoring" setting to promote the perception of diversity among each other while at the same time having the opportunity to be seen as an individual in diversity
- Strengthening of interdisciplinary skills and systematic preparation for self-organized learning later in the course through:
- Practical projects in small groups for training in project management, learning methods, self-organization, time management, teamwork and initial testing of professional action
- Additional courses and workshops to teach interdisciplinary skills
- Additional offers for professional field exploration (e.g. excursions, internships)
- Scenarios of digitally supported teaching and learning serve to support the learning and reflection process
SaG | Studying Adapted Speed | QuiS joint project
As part of the programme "High Quality in Studies and Teaching, Good Framework Conditions for Studies" (QuiS), the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art is funding the introduction and continuation of a course of study at the adapted speed ( Say).
The aim of the joint project is to support students in coping with the requirements of their studies. By equalizing the time of the basic course by two semesters, space is created for mandatory additional courses, practical projects and additional support services. In this way, the heterogeneous initial qualifications can be taken into account, the socialization at the university and in the department as well as the networking of the students can be promoted.
The universities of Fulda and Darmstadt as well as the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen have already developed various implementation concepts for a SaG in a joint model project. As part of the QuiS funding period, these concepts will be anchored and rolled out in the long term. The RheinMain University of Applied Sciences and the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences are developing and testing pilots for selected departments based on previous experience and measures of the model project.
