Wooden throne that invites toddlers to fairytale games“The child is king.” A team at the educational institute of the Hessian economy eV recently turned this idea into a good deed. During the "Fit for Training and Career" course in Dillenburg, two young women built a wooden throne that invites small children to play in fairytale games.

Encouraged by course leader Marion Krolak-Köppen, 17-year-old Sabrina Eiglmeier and 16-year-old Carina Knittel devoted themselves to making thrones as part of their project week. From the plan drawing to the cutting of the wood and the assembly to the final painting, the two young carpenters actively lent a hand so that their workpiece took on a stable shape before Christmas.

The gift was ready on time. Now the question arose: where should the Dillenburg Christmas sleigh deliver the generous gift? The course director had a solution. With family ties to the local university of applied sciences, she is familiar with the diverse initiatives undertaken at Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences to make studying with children practical and promising. Her suggestion was met with enthusiasm. The royal seating and play furniture now complements the furniture in the university's daycare center and is being enthusiastically accepted by the eight young children currently cared for there.

The Bildungswerk der Hessische Wirtschaft in Dillenburg has been offering the FAuB course for eleven years on behalf of the Hessian Ministry of Education and Social Affairs. It is an extracurricular alternative to attending the 10th school year and is supported by the European Social Fund.
