The Technical University of Central Hesse (THM) invites you to a Career Talk on the topic of "Research as a Professor at a University of Applied Sciences." It will take place on November 5 in Giessen and will showcase career opportunities between teaching and research.
Universities of applied sciences (UAW) are often accused of generating less research output than universities. In fact, they make a significant contribution to practice-oriented applied research. The THM serves as an excellent example in this regard, underscoring the importance of research with its eight interdisciplinary Centres of Competence . But what does research look like at a UAS? How can research be combined with teaching responsibilities, and what support services are available?
These and other questions will be answered in a panel discussion moderated by Emily Härtel. Experts from the THM Department — Prof. Dr. Saskia Kraft-Bermuth, Prof. Dr. Michael Guckert, and Prof. Dr. Peggy Schlupp—as well as Dr. Christina Zinecker, Head of the Department for Research and Young Scientists, will provide insights into their daily work, research projects, and research funding. Following the discussion, there will be an opportunity for open discussion and lively exchange over finger food and drinks.
The Career Talk is free of charge and will take place on Wednesday, November 5, from 6 p.m. at the Wiesenstraße campus, building C14, room 1.17. Interested parties can register by emailing This email address is being protected from spam bots! To display JavaScript must be turned on! Sign in.
