Marco Kornrumpf, who studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Friedberg, won the cross-country race in Pfungstadt.More than 80 students from all over Germany started over the 7,780 m long course. With very good weather and soil conditions, the later winner was able to position himself in the leading group from the start. In the last lap he managed to mobilize all his reserves and passed Florian Tozauer from Tübingen who had been leading up to that point. The 24-year-old student from Friedberg was the first to reach the finish line in 25.22 minutes and was able to receive the congratulations and the winner's pin from Federal Minister of Justice Brigitte Zypries.
Due to the excellent performances of Marco Kornrumpf, Oliver Hoffmann (5th place) and Matthias Müller (10th place), the team title of the German University Cross Country Championship 2008 also went to the FH Giessen -Friedberg.
