In front of a large audience, the artist Gabriele Heinz from Butzbach presented her painting "Farbenrausch" (Color Rush) to the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences. The ceremony also marked the closing of an exhibition of paintings and sculptures that had been on display at the university's premises in Friedberg for the past three months.
The painter has been working on the five by three square meter “Rush of Colors” at the university since October of last year. During this unique campaign, students, employees and other art lovers were given the opportunity to experience the design process.
Gabriele Heinz said in her speech that the University of Applied Sciences' offer not only to exhibit, but also to create its own work for the new building on Wilhelm-Leuschner-Strasse, which was inaugurated last year, has been the fulfillment of a heart's desire. "I've always felt like a welcome guest. The work was a great challenge that took up all my creative power.”
FH Vice President Prof. Dr. Axel Schumann-Luck thanked the artist on behalf of the university for her commitment. “Over the past three months, with creativity, inspiration and a lot of hard work, you have ensured that we are left with something extraordinary after the exhibition ends. They created a painting for the university that could be called 'monumental' because of its enormous dimensions. I hesitate to use this term. Because despite its size, it has a lightness without being 'playful'. It marks a counterpoint to the rigor and clarity of our new building, which Minister Kühne-Hörmann certified as having 'high functionality' at the inauguration.”
Convinced by the artwork, which, with its saturated colors, dominates the foyer of the new building on the first floor, was also shown by Prof. Dr. Klaus Behler. The Dean of the Department S Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Data Processing was one of the initiators of the campaign, which was also supported by the "Friends and sponsors of the University of Applied Sciences in Friedberg". Architect Prof. Herbert von Wehrden was happy about the new jewelry in the entrance hall of his building. The students now have a building available in which the "color frenzy" contribute to further motivation.
Born in Wetzlar, Gabriele Heinz has been painting since 1980 and has been an independent artist for ten years. With many solo and group exhibitions, she has been able to present herself to a wide audience. She runs her own painting school. According to the artist, her representational and abstract works “are characterized by colourful, light and idiosyncratic color combinations”. She has been in contact with the University of Applied Sciences since 1989, when she first cast bronze sculptures in the Friedberg foundry of the University of Applied Sciences.
