For the second time, International Chess Master Piotr Murdzia played against members of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen . Eight opponents, all active in chess clubs, competed against him simultaneously. Murdzia, like his opponent, had two hours for the entire game. The particular challenge for him was that he had to divide his attention between eight boards.
The six-time "World Problem Chess Champion" from Poland finished the simultaneous exhibition with four wins and four draws. He admitted that in some games he had come under more pressure than he would have liked. In one instance, his opponent missed a winning opportunity in time trouble. In his match against Irina Scheffler, a research assistant in Friedberg and the only woman in the competition, both players had only one minute of thinking time remaining when they agreed to a draw.
