District Administrator Jan Weckler awarded the university, together with 18 other companies and institutions, the seal "Family-friendly company Wetterau" for their offers for the compatibility of family and work. Seven companies were considered for the first time, twelve more - including THM - for the second time.

"In particular, we see ourselves as a university from and for the region - and we are very pleased that our efforts to be family-friendly are also being noticed in the region," says Anette Schönberger, Head of Human Resources Development and the Equal Opportunities Office at the THM. She received the certificate from Weckler together with Tina Trede, Friedberg's women's representative, at a ceremony. "For us, such a framework offers the opportunity to see what ideas other companies are using to promote family friendliness," says Schönberger.

The THM is regularly examined and certified in the nationwide "Audit family-friendly university", the further development of the offers - such as childcare offers, offers for the compatibility of work or study with care tasks, modern working time models and mobile working - praised. District Administrator Weckler also emphasized the possibility of working from home: All award-winning companies have expanded or set up home offices and mobile work since the beginning of the pandemic. What was initially necessary to maintain the ability to work and to enable parents to look after their children has ensured a sustained push towards digitization. “Mobile work will remain part of our working world. Video conferences make some trips to work meetings unnecessary,” said Weckler.

The award is given by the Wetterau district and the working group for professional re-entry. The jury, in which the district craftsmen's association, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Wetterau Economic Development Agency and an entrepreneur are represented, decided on the award.
