The Heinrich Böll Foundation, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Cusanuswerk, the German National Academic Foundation and other funding organizations were available to provide information and advice to THM students at the scholarship fair. The Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen hosted its fourth scholarship fair on the Friedberg campus. Major funding organizations presented themselves and invited visitors to exchange ideas with scholarship recipients and foundation staff, and to gather helpful information.

There are many scholarship opportunities available. However, most students lack the knowledge and information needed to apply. Therefore, key questions about choosing the right scholarship were once again addressed and answered for interested students at THM this year.

The central students advisory service had already addressed the most common misconceptions in its trade fair catalog: The widespread assumptions that a perfect GPA of 1.0 is required for a scholarship or that students must be recommended for one were corrected. Far more important, the catalog explained, are the applicant's personal volunteer work and the overall impression conveyed by their application. The misconception that a scholarship can or should only be pursued when financial resources for studying are insufficient was also refuted both in the catalog and on-site. In addition to financial support, the scholarship programme offers numerous opportunities to network with other scholarship recipients and build contacts that contribute to academic success.

Students in Friedberg were given information on how to apply correctly and what advantages a scholarship offers. The dedicated representatives at the booths of the various funding organizations were clearly keen to share their experiences and allow the students to benefit from them.

“The scholarship fair is a great opportunity to alleviate the fears young people have about applying and to encourage them,” emphasized Anne-Kathrin Weber, project coordinator of “ArbeiterKind.de”. The non-profit initiative supports school and university students who are the first in their family to pursue a university degree, among other things by helping them apply for scholarships and navigate their daily student life.

Visitors to the fair were enthusiastic about the event and left well-informed. Organizer Malte Hübner from the central students advisory service at TH Mittelhessen was also pleased with the fourth scholarship fair, which once again succeeded in paving the way for interested individuals to obtain scholarships.
