New parent-child room at the University of Applied Sciences in FriedbergClaudia Fabel raved about an "optimal solution" at the opening of the new parent-child room at the Friedberg University of Applied Sciences. Together with her colleague Christina Paulencu, the women's representative made a sustained effort to ensure that parents and their children have a place of retreat at the FH.

Last year, the university had already set up a similar room for students and staff with children in Giessen as part of its initiative to create a "Family-Friendly University." The Friedberg parent-child room on the second floor of the new building on Hanauer Straße, including adjoining rooms, has an area of approximately 160 square meters. The bright room, completely glazed on two sides, features a changing table, sleeping facilities, and a cooking area. A Wi-Fi workstation allows parents to work comfortably. The orange and green furnishings cost approximately €8,000. University of Applied Sciences employees donated toys.

FH Vice President Prof. Dr. Axel Schumann praised the commitment of the women's representative. It is thanks to their persistence that the university has made great strides forward in childcare in recent years. At certain times, the parent-child room is also used for sports activities such as back training or the “active lunch break”.
