Prof. Dr. Dieter Heinrich, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the non-profit Hospiz Mittelhessen GmbH, accepted a donation of €1,000 at TH Mittelhessen. Prof. Dr. Christian Zielke from the Department of Social and Cultural Sciences had collected the money during his lecture series "School of Life." It has become a welcome tradition for the professor to solicit financial support for the hospice from the participants of his public seminars.
The THM grant will go to the "Haus Emmaus" hospice. Located in Wetzlar's Spilburgpark, the facility offers dignified end-of-life care for the terminally ill. Haus Emmaus provides eight single rooms, comfortable communal facilities, and an apartment for family members. The terminally ill, referred to as guests, are cared for by a qualified nursing team, collaborating physicians, and chaplains (further information): www.hospiz-mittelhessen.de).
Prof. Zielke presented the donation check together with THMPresident Prof. Dr. Günther Grabatin and Vice President Prof. Dr. Klaus Behler. Prof. Heinrich thanked the hospice staff for their long-standing support. He explained that non-profit organizations like the hospice rely on donations to provide the best possible medical, nursing, psychosocial, and spiritual care for their guests.
