Optics, photonics, electronics and mechanics are the – not just proverbial – focus at the W3+ Fair in the Buderus Arena in Wetzlar on July 6th and 7th. In addition to the large companies in the industry and the many Central Hessian technology and world market leaders, the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ) is also represented in the campus area.

Several of the university's institutions will be presenting themselves during the two days of the trade fair, including the Centre of Competence for Laser, Optics, optical Technology and Systems (LOTuS) , whose spokesman Prof. Markus Degünther conducts research at the optics center in Wetzlar Spilburg. In LOTuS, the center cooperates with the departments of information technology, electrical engineering and mechatronics (IEM) and mathematics, natural sciences and data processing (MND).

The MakerSpace Friedberg presents the idea and the possibilities of an open and excellently equipped workshop that enables students and external people to bring ideas to life. At the same time, the learning factory of the Business Administration and Engineering (WI) department is a central place where theoretical knowledge can be experienced in practice in the field of tension between people, technology, business and sustainability and students can gain their first entrepreneurial experience.

At the accompanying congress “en-tech.talks High-Tech Conference”, interested parties will hear two days of lectures on the trade fair's topic on the Innovation Stage, moderated by, among others, Prof. Gerrit Sames, Department of Economics & THM Business School. In terms of content, the THM will be represented on Thursday, July 7th, from 1 p.m. with alumnus and founder Adrian Kulic from the company VEAC, who will speak with Matthias Kramolisch, Solid AI, and Niko Gotthardt, Interra Circle, about “Mittelstand meets startup – like both of them “Worlds benefit from each other.” At 1:50 p.m. there will be a discussion on the same topic moderated by Christian Abt, WI Department, with Kamolisch and Oliver Rüspeler from the “Johannes Hübner Factory of Electrical Machines”.

Admission is free for students on one day upon presentation of the relevant proof. Personal tickets can be purchased at https://tickets.fleet-events.de/de/shop/w3-fair-wetzlar-2022 to be activated.
