“Knowing how” – knowledge of the strategies and conventions customary in the target country usually determines the success of an internship application.
A workshop at the TH Mittelhessen, led by Thomas Obliego from "Bildung ohne Grenz" on Saturday, January 7th, will use current examples and models to look for a job and present yourself appropriately to employers in North America, Australia and New Zealand. Various ways and instruments are discussed to find promising employers and the process of English-language application procedures is considered overall. The programme also includes the analysis of authentic text examples, some of which differ greatly from the well-known German curriculum vitae and other documents that are customary here. In this way, the participants should be able to produce core sentences for the future "job application" with a simple 5-point scheme and to assess them together.
In preparation for the workshop, the THM invites you to a lecture on Friday, January 6, on the Giessen campus (Wiesenstraße 14, Room F304). From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the lecture will cover work permit issues and various internship programmes in the USA, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. The lecture is open to all interested parties without registration. The number of participants for the workshop the following day is limited to 20. It begins at 9:30 a.m. at Lokal International ( Giessen , Eichendorffring 111). The university charges a participation fee of 15 euros per person and requests registration by December 19 via email (This email address is being protected from spam bots!
