A new guide for business practice, entitled "Financing in SMEs – New Challenges and Opportunities," has just been published. Editors Maria Rumpf and Friedrich-Karl Feyerabend, both professors at the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences, have compiled current contributions from eight authors.
This book is a documentation of a lecture series held at the University of Applied Sciences in Friedberg during the summer semester of 2004. The series focused on alternative financing concepts and aspects of future-oriented financial planning for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The lecture series, which ran over several semesters and addressed the prerequisites and conditions for entrepreneurial activity, was initiated by the endowed professorship for "Business Start-ups" at the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences.
This new publication addresses the complex topic of corporate finance from various perspectives. Leading managers from regional credit institutions, with extensive experience working with medium-sized businesses, share their expertise, as do university specialists who focus on financing instruments, legal issues, and international business. The know-how and perspective of an independent management consultant specializing in risk management are also incorporated into the book's thematic scope. By focusing on the real-world problems faced by small and medium-sized enterprises, the contributions offer concrete guidance for everyday business practice.
This publication continues the Friedberg publication series on the topic of business start-ups and management. The two editors have already published the volumes "Business Start-ups – From Idea to Implementation" (2002), "Business Succession – Planning and Securing the Succession Process" (2003), and "Success Factors of Young Companies" (2004). This new book is also published by Ferber's University Bookstore. It has 180 pages and is available from bookstores for €10 under ISBN 3-932917-62-6.
