Introducing pupils to STEM subjects at an early age and helping them to develop a concrete idea of a possible study and career path: This is the idea behind the cooperation between the Department of Information Technology, Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics (IEM) of the THM in Friedberg and the Wolfgang-Ernst-Gymnasium in Büdingen.
The cooperation agreement was signed at the Friedberg campus by THMVice President for Studies and Teaching, Prof. Dr. Stephanie Hanrath, and Dr. Jörg Prohaska, a member of the school's leadership team. This agreement establishes the foundation for a vibrant collaboration between the school and the Department Information, Information and Media Technology (IEM) and includes a wide range of activities: Planned activities include the Department 's and the central students advisory service participation in career orientation week, an information session for technically minded eleventh-grade students, and workshops and projects for grades 12 and 13. Interested students will also have the opportunity to attend trial lectures at the Friedberg campus and benefit from the students advisory service 's counseling services.

Everyone benefits from a vibrant exchange,” said Prof. Dr. Stephanie Hanrath at the signing of the cooperation agreement. Dr. Jörg Prohaska also emphasized the importance of the collaboration: “It is important for students to gain an early understanding of the possibilities after school.”
The high school, specializing in mathematics, science, and technology, places great emphasis on a solid education in the natural sciences. Through initiatives such as participation in the Federal Informatics Competition, young people are introduced to STEM subjects at an early age. Overall, the collaboration aims to contribute to students' university orientation and improve the transition from high school to university.
