Professors Claus Breuer (right) and Udo Fiedler (left) looked after the guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the THM in Friedberg.A group of twelve university professors from Bosnia and Herzegovina visited the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen in Friedberg. The professors teach at the mechanical engineering faculties of the universities in Mostar, Zenica, Tuzla, and Sarajevo, as well as at the transportation engineering faculty in Doboj. The four-day visit was funded by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Prof. Dr. Claus Breuer, Dean of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, and Materials Technology (M), presented the university and its study programs to the guests. The program also included a tour of various laboratories. The mechatronics lab and the "learning factory," whose concept was explained Prof. Dr. Udo Fiedler from the Department Business Administration and Engineering , were of particular interest. The factory provides students with a simplified yet realistic picture of an industrial operation. A visit to the Hyundai Development Center in Rüsselsheim rounded off the visit.

Department M has been cooperating with the University of Mostar for several years. Collaboration with the other universities is now also planned. Funding from the EU's "Erasmus+" program has already been approved. Claus Breuer sees excellent prospects for this: "We have had outstanding experiences with Mostar. The visit to Friedberg demonstrated that there are many overlaps in teaching and research, for example in the development of hand and leg prostheses. The exchange of professors and students will begin soon."
