A TV programme about the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences, titled "ef:ha-TV," will premiere on March 30th at 6:25 PM on the Open Channel Giessen . Students from the postgraduate programme in Technical Writing & Multimedia Documentation (TRMD) produced the programme under the direction of Prof. Rainer Bernd Voges in cooperation with the Open Channel.

The programme covers topics from science and university life. It also aims to present research projects in an engaging way to a broad audience. One episode of "ef:ha-TV" is planned per semester. With its premiere next Wednesday, the programme can be received in all households on the Giessen cable network, and later also on all community television channels in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate.

Prof. Voges sees the project as a conceptual component of the degree programme: "The students worked on the production of the magazine with great enthusiasm and a lot of personal commitment. In doing so, they learned about the many facets of modern media production in a very practical way and also had fun."

In the Master's programme TRMD, aspiring technical writers learn to communicate knowledge across media and in a way that is tailored to specific target groups. The course "Interactive Multimedia Systems" serves as the practical editorial office where the broadcast is planned. Working in groups, the students prepare a topic in a media-appropriate manner.

The concept for the practice newsroom was developed by Prof. Voges with the participation of student Martin Kosa and first implemented in the winter semester of 2005/06. Martin Kosa on the creation of “ef:ha-TV”: “We wanted to summarize the individual topics of the degree programme in a practical way under a thematic umbrella. A practice newsroom was the perfect solution, allowing students to test and hone their skills under realistic conditions.”
