Students learn more about the infinite cosmos in Prof. Dr. Johannes Ohlert's lecture. Photo: Stock photographyThe public astronomy lectures by Prof. Dr. Johannes Ohlert from the Department Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Data Processing at THM in Friedberg have a long tradition. This winter semester, he will again cover both the fundamentals of astronomy and astrophysical topics, starting with current events in the near and distant cosmos.

The lecture begins on Thursday, October 12th, at 3:40 pm in room A4 0.14 of the THM in Friedberg, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße 13. Subsequent lectures will also take place on Thursdays at the same time, in the same location.

The lecture has attracted considerable interest both within and outside the university in the past. Ohlert sees it as an attractive scientific alternative to the subjects and content offered at THM . He explains: "It offers the opportunity to expand one's own understanding of the cosmos, which everyone develops personally, and to place it on a sound physical and scientific basis.".

Weather permitting, the topics covered in the lecture will be reinforced through practical observations. Participants will have access to the "Michael Adrian Observatory" of the Trebur Astronomy Foundation for this purpose. The foundation operates one of the largest publicly accessible telescopes in Europe.
