At the world's largest trade fair for laser technology and optics, the Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences presented research results from its Competence Center for Optical Technologies and Systems. Nearly 30,000 visitors from 80 countries came to Munich for this year's "Laser World of Photonics."
Prof. Dr. Karl-Friedrich Klein presented various fiber optic products and systems for industry, chemistry and medicine. For the first time, a mobile high-performance laser plastic fiber system developed together with industrial partners for use in hospitals was shown. Klein and his research group are currently working on special fibers that have an extremely small light channel of three micrometers. The TH scientists also presented the model of a new ultra-short pulse laser that can be used for microstructuring in biotechnical, medical, micromechanical or solar applications and in astronomy.
The technical university has been exhibiting regularly at Munich's leading trade fair since 1999. The speakers of the competence center Prof. Dr. Thomas Sure and Prof. Dr. Klaus Behler was extremely satisfied with how this year's trade fair went, where they were able to make many contacts.
