23 students from seven countries, three weeks and two main topics: This is the first summer school of the Mechanical and Energy Engineering department at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ) in numbers.
In addition to THM students, there were young people from the partner universities from Denmark (Aarhus University), from Ghana (Koforidua Technical University), from Canada (British Columbia Institute of Technology & Kwantlen Polytechnic University), from Morocco (Mohammed V), from Turkey (Izmir Institute of Technology) and from the USA (Arkansas Tech University) came to Gießen for Professional Development . The THM International Office supported her in this.
The students not only gained theoretical specialist knowledge in two block courses, but were also able to deepen their practical knowledge. Laboratory exercises and internships were part of the programme, as were two company excursions: to HexagonPurus in Kassel and to ITM in Linden.
The summer schools in the various departments offer international students an insight into studying and campus life at THM and are a valuable intercultural experience for all participants.
Prof. Dr. Sven Pohl conveyed the basics on the topic of “Hydrogen Technologies and Alternative Fuels” in an English-language block event. In the second with Prof. Dr. Dirk Meyer's topic for the students was “Vehicle Powertrain & Body Engineering”, drive trains in vehicles and body technology.
Thanks to the Summer School of the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering and the great interest in it, the existing partnerships with international universities were consolidated and new potential for internationalization was tested.
