Prof. Dr.-Ing. Björn Dickenbrok teaches at the Giessen campus. The Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) welcomes a new expert in railway engineering: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Björn Dickenbrok joins the team in the "Railway Systems and Transport Engineering" department, which belongs to the Civil Engineering Department . Dickenbrok studied civil engineering at RWTH Aachen University, where he also earned his doctorate, and most recently worked for almost 15 years at DB Netz AG and DB InfraGO AG, the infrastructure operator of Deutsche Bahn.

Following his diploma studies in civil engineering with a focus on transportation and construction management from RWTH Aachen University (1997-2004), Dickenbrok worked as a research assistant at the university's Institute of Transportation Science. He earned his doctorate in railway operations and transport economics there in 2012. His research focused on the "Economic Evaluation of Infrastructure Measures for Adapting Line Capacity Based on an Integrated Systems Analysis." The approach he developed enables a sound assessment of the impact of infrastructure measures on the economically optimal performance range and the financial results of railway lines, thus providing the basis for optimal planning and efficient use of infrastructure investments.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dickenbrok most recently worked as Head of Infrastructure Condition Assessment at DB InfraGO AG, where he developed and established a methodology for evaluating infrastructure quality using a school grading system. This methodology has been a central component of DB InfraGO AG's condition report since 2021. He now brings his extensive expertise in the planning, operation, management, and condition assessment of railway infrastructure to his teaching and research at THM .
