Prof. Dr. Klaus Schuchard has taken up his post at the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences. He teaches design methodology and innovation in the Department Business Administration and Engineering and Production Engineering at the university in Friedberg.

Klaus Schuchard completed his studies in mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University in 1982, graduating with a diploma. He remained at the university's Institute for Machine Elements as a research assistant and earned his doctorate in engineering ( Dr.-Ing. In 1988, he took over as head of the research and development department at a French subsidiary of Fichtel & Sachs, which produced components for the two-wheeler industry. After a brief stint as a consultant at a research institute for industrial technology in Taiwan, he became technical director in 1993 at a medium-sized company that manufactured precision parts. From there, he moved to the building materials group Lafarge in 2002, where he became director of a newly created Competence Center, which encompassed product development and the global marketing department.

Prof. Dr. Schuchard's research interests lie at the intersection of development and marketing, as well as in the field of innovation management. In his leadership roles in industry, he has frequently contributed as a speaker to the programmes of international trade fairs and Professional Development forums. He intends to bring his extensive practical experience in the development and launch of new products for globally operating companies to the academic education of industrial engineers at the university of applied sciences.
