Dr. Andreas Michael Weißflog has been teaching at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) for more than ten years, and since 2015 at the Department of Health. Weißflog shares his expertise in the application-oriented field of medical technology. His teaching activities are complemented by the supervision of diploma, bachelor's, and master's theses. At the beginning of November, THMPresident Prof. Dr. Matthias Willems appointed him to the circle of honorary professors.
Weißflog boasts a 29-year professional career, during which he held leading positions in the development, production, and marketing of medical devices and participated in innovative research and development projects in the medical technology sector. His academic qualifications are reflected in numerous publications. He has also gained practical teaching experience at many of his professional positions. He shares his knowledge, particularly regarding product development, product approval and market entry, as well as quality management and assurance. As managing director of a Giessen medical technology company, Weißflog has been and continues to be strategically and operationally involved in securing third-party funding for universities and industry in Central Hesse, including from project sponsors such as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Loewe III, and the Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM).
The appointment of Dr. Weißflog as an honorary professor opens up a range of opportunities for the Department Health: Dr. Weißflog can be directly involved in the field of Digital Medicine, including lectures, practical courses, and the supervision of student projects and theses. The field of Digital Medicine, with its focus on Regulatory Affairs Management, combines experience in the application-oriented environment of medical device development, clinical evaluation of medical devices, and quality management.
