Prof. Dr. Claus Breuer has started working at the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences. At the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, and Materials Technology in Friedberg, he focuses on combustion engines and tribology.

Claus Breuer completed his studies in General Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hanover in 1990 with a diploma. He earned his doctorate in engineering ( Dr.-Ing. in 1994 from the university's Institute for Internal Combustion Engines. His dissertation investigated the combustion of vegetable oil in direct-injection diesel engines. From the university, he moved into industry, where he held various management positions in engine and component development. After working as a project engineer at the former AE Goetze GmbH and as head of development at a supplier in the large engine manufacturing sector, he joined Federal-Mogul Holding Deutschland GmbH in Burscheid in 2000. There, he managed the European engine test benches and was also entrusted with the global, company-wide coordination in this area. Furthermore, he was responsible for the development and testing of piston rings and cylinder liners.

Prof. Dr. Breuer will incorporate his profound experience in engine development into his courses at the university of applied sciences. Upon assuming his professorship, he has already initiated the establishment of a "Center for Internal Combustion Engines" within TransMit GmbH, a company that markets innovative services provided by universities in Central Hesse. Through this initiative, he aims to cultivate contacts with industry, contributing to the continuous updating of teaching methods and facilitating collaborative development projects.
