Prof. Dr. Margarita Esponda-Argüero has taken up her position at the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences. She teaches Practical Computer Science in the Department of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Data Processing in Friedberg.
Margarita Esponda completed her studies in mathematics and physics at the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico, graduating with a diploma. After a period as a software engineer at the Mexican Nuclear Research Institute, she came to Germany as a project employee of the Society for Mathematics and Data Processing. Simultaneously, she continued her academic training at the Technical University of Berlin, graduating in 1987 with a diploma in computer science. She remained in Berlin, where she worked as a research assistant at the Free University in various research groups and projects. She earned her doctorate ( Dr. rer. nat. in computer science from the Free University. In her dissertation, she developed two different systems for animating algorithms for computer science education. She held a visiting professorship at the Wildau University of Applied Sciences during the summer semester of 2005.
Prof. Esponda-Argüero's research has focused on the development and visualization of algorithms, as well as on the fundamentals of computer science. Her publications also address topics in these fields. She has gained experience in academic computer science education through various teaching positions at several universities, including offering special courses for female students.
