Prof. Dr. Günther Grabatin, President of the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences, has been elected Chairman of the Conference of Hessian University of Applied Sciences Presidents (KHF). The committee appointed Prof. Dr. Detlev Reymann, President of RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, as his deputy for the two-year term.
Prof. Grabatin sees the conclusion of a new higher education pact with the state government as the KHF's most important task in the near future. A framework agreement must be reached for the years 2011 to 2015 that enables Hessian universities of applied sciences to fulfill their tasks in teaching, research, and Professional Development , while simultaneously creating scope for future development. This requires formulating binding target agreements and defining expansion steps to ensure the competitiveness of Hessian universities of applied sciences.
“In the short term,” said Grabatin, “it is crucial to be able to offer the number of students, which has risen to a new record high in the current winter semester, an academic education of the best possible quality.” The KHF intends to seek solutions to the current overload at universities of applied sciences in close dialogue with the Hessian state government.
