Prof. Dr. Wendler and Prof. Herbert von WehrdenThe Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences has awarded Prof. Herbert von Wehrden the Hugo von Ritgen Medal. The architect, who teaches in the university's Department of Civil Engineering, received the award for his successful contributions to the university's building development planning.

It is primarily thanks to the 64-year-old von Wehrden that the University of Applied Sciences was able to move into the neoclassical building of the former Landgraf-Ludwig-School in Giessen 's southern district in 2002. The university professor undertook the planning work and also oversaw the renovation, which was largely carried out by the university itself. Von Wehrden was also instrumental in the rapid planning of the new university buildings in Giessen and Friedberg, which are scheduled to begin next year. According to the text of the certificate of honor, von Wehrden's designs will "decisively shape the future image of the university at both locations.".

The Hugo von Ritgen Medal was awarded by the university for the first time this year. It is given to individuals or institutions that have made outstanding contributions to the university.
