Prof. Dr. Joachim Breckow from the TH Mittelhessen has been made an honorary member of the Association for Radiation Protection. The Gießen physicist – as the certificate states – receives the award “in recognition of his special merits and his extraordinary commitment to the association and radiation protection”. Among other things, he was its president in 2012 and 2013.

The professional association is an association of radiation protection experts and practitioners. It has about 1,300 members from Germany and Switzerland and aims to promote radiation protection as a science and profession.

Breckow has been teaching at the Department of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Computer Science in Gießen since 1997. He is the managing director of the Institute for Medical Physics and Radiation Protection. The university lecturer was a member of the Radiation Protection Commission from 1998 to 2004 and has been a member again since 2012, since 2016 as chairman.
