Prof. Dr. Alexander Pionteck teaches business and labor law at the Department of Economics in Giessen . He teaches business and labor law at the Department of Business in Giessen .

Prof. Dr. Pionteck studied law and social sciences at the Justus Liebig University Giessen and the Università degli Studi di Genova in Italy. Since passing his first state law examination, he has devoted himself to academic research and, in his dissertation, examined a much-discussed topic in labor law: the strengthening of collective bargaining autonomy. He developed factors for effective collective bargaining autonomy, analyzed the collective bargaining (legal) policy status quo, taking into account the Collective Bargaining Autonomy Strengthening Act, and put forward his own legislative proposals to strengthen collective bargaining autonomy. After passing his second state law examination, he also earned a Master of Arts in Sociology in 2022. His research combines both academic fields and subjects the premises of law to critical reflection.

The lawyer gained practical experience from 2021 to 2025 as a lawyer for employment law at Apitzsch Schmidt Klebe Rechtsanwälte in Frankfurt am Main and CMS Hasche Sigle in Cologne.

His teaching focuses on civil law, labor law, social law, and legal sociology. In addition to his teaching activities, Prof. Dr. Pionteck is actively involved in various research and development projects, focusing on topics such as the modernization of working time law, the scope of corporate regulatory power, and approaches to critical legal theory.

Prof. Dr. Pionteck is a member of the German Lawyers' Association, the Legal Studies Society, and the Legal History Study Group. He is also the author of numerous publications in renowned journals and commentaries, including Beck's Commentary on the Working Hours Act and Beck's Online Commentary on Works Constitution Law.
