The 26-year-old Business Information Systems specialist was awarded the prize for her diploma thesis, with which she completed her studies at the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences.

The Department Stage represents over 60 computer science Department at German universities of applied sciences with over 30,000 students. It annually awards one outstanding diploma or master's thesis from each of four computer science subfields. Sandra Fischbach, a diploma student at SAP AG in Walldorf, focused on "Cross-Company Integrated Project Management" within the Product Lifecycle Management division. She wrote her thesis as part of the Business Information Systems diploma programme, jointly offered by Department 06 and 13 of the Giessen -Friedberg University of Applied Sciences. Her supervisor was Prof. Dr. Harald Ritz ( Department 06, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Computer Science), specializing in Business Information Systems . Prof. Dr. Peter Hohmann served as co-supervisor.

Sandra Fischbach received the €1,500 prize at a ceremony held by the Department of Arts. In his laudatory speech, Prof. Dr. Ritz pointed out that her diploma thesis was an outstanding success in developing an integrated, cross-company project management concept. She not only comprehensively incorporated current research in this field but also outlined approaches for further software development. Overall, Sandra Fischbach presented a diploma thesis that was both methodologically sophisticated and of excellent quality and style.

After completing her A-levels the award winner first trained as a bank clerk before beginning her studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Friedberg in the autumn of 2001. She graduated within the standard period of study with a perfect 1.0 grade. During her focused studies, she maintained practical experience as a working student at various companies and independently completed a multi-month internship in Singapore. Thanks to the innovative results of her diploma project, Sandra Fischbach quickly found employment as a developer at SAP AG.
